Swimming
The National Curriculum states that...
"All schools must provide swimming instruction either in key stage 1 or key stage 2.
In particular, pupils should be taught to:
-swim competently, confidently and proficiently over a distance of at least 25 metres
-use a range of strokes effectively [for example, front crawl, backstroke and breaststroke]
-perform safe self-rescue in different water-based situations"
With that in mind, here are the percentages of children in our current Year 6 class who have met the expected standard...
1. 31% of Year 6 pupils can swim 25 m or more
2. 17% of pupils can swim a range of strokes
3. 100% completed their Personal Survival assessment
4. 100% of pupils passed Poolside Rescue which includes Reach and Rescue, and Safety in Outdoor Water
