As with many other subjects, teachers carry our pre-learning and post-learning assessment tasks, gauging pupil recall and knowledge in a given subject before an after teaching.
We also revisit previously-taught topics through the use of Do Now recall activities, to maintain retrieval strength of knowledge from units that have not been taught recently.
In KS2, Learning by Questions tablets are used to check pupil understanding throughout a unit's progression. These self-marking quizzes provide children with immediate feedback.
Pupils will sometimes produce a double-page spread, celebrating and summarising their learning in their own unique way. This may include cross-curricular writing produced in writing lessons.
Later on, teachers assess each pupil based on their demonstration of retaining and explaining the sticky knowledge for each unit, using tests written by our subject leaders.
