At Greenacres Primary School, we believe that developing new skills through outdoor play is just as important as learning within the classroom.
“The philosophy of Forest Schools is to encourage and inspire individuals of any age through an innovative, long term, educational approach to outdoor play and learning in a woodland environment" - www.forestschools.com
From building dens to cooking round the campfire, we want to give all of our pupils the opportunity to explore the great outdoors in an exciting yet safe environment. We are currently developing the field next to our School into one of Oldham’s only Forest Schools and our children are already reaping the benefits through Forest Fridays.
Every Friday, one of our classes spends the whole day in our woodland where, under the watchful eye of our qualified Forest School leader Mr Seville, they take part in lots of different activities that compliments the learning they do within the classroom. Our Forest Friday’s are tailored to suit the age and needs of the children so that everyone has an unforgettable experience.
In this section, we will keep you up to date with the latest developments of our Forest School as well as the exciting experiences our children have.
