Here is some information about all of our Governors so that you can get to know them a little bit better:
Mohammed Altaf
I currently have one child at Greenacres Primary School. I became a Parent Governor in 2015 as I wanted to offer my skills to a school which is working hard to educate and prepare children for further education. I believe that the staff and Governors of Greenacres are striving to improve the standard of the school and I wanted to become a Governor to play a more active role. I understand that children flourish in stimulating environments where they feel secure and valued. I regularly attend different meetings in my role and I want to use my knowledge and experience to continue to support the school in its continuous efforts in improvement, given the continued support of the parents. I have worked in the financial industry for the past 20 years and am also a trustee of a charity.
Paul Clarke
Hello, I am Paul Clarke, Chair of Governors at Greenacres Primary School. I have been a Governor at Greenacres for approximately 12 years. I have been a Parent Governor, Associate Governor, Local Authority Governor, Vice-Chair of Governors and I was recently elected as Chair of Governors. I have Governor Responsibility for Year 1 and 5, Child Protection, Safeguarding, Looked After Children and The Headteacher’s Performance Review. I am committed to improving education for all pupils in school and to the school’s vision and ethos. I am an experienced leader with involvement in the performance management of a number of staff. I have knowledge of Health & Safety legislation and of risk assessments. I consider myself to be a good communicator, friendly and approachable. I have had a long association with the school having had a niece, two brothers, three sons and a nephew educated at Greenacres. I coach football after school on Tuesdays with Mr Chadderton and have been involved with coaching football for 12 years, predominately in goalkeeping.
Carole Clarke
I have had a long association with Greenacres Primary School going back over 20 years. My son, stepsons and other family members have all been educated at Greenacres over this time. I work for Greater Manchester Police and have responsibility for the performance management, training and welfare of a number of staff. I am also the Force contact for particular IT systems used by GMP. I have a background in finance and management and believe that a good foundation in numeracy and literacy are essential skills in life that should be taught from an early age. I am committed to improving standards in the school and working with all involved in this process. In my spare time I bake & decorate cakes. I love reading and walking and I am a member of the National Trust. I take a keen interest in sport, particularly football where I hold a seasoncard for Manchester City FC.
Sean Fielding
I was elected to Oldham Council in May 2012. In addition to Greenacres Primary School, I serves as a member of the Interim Executive Board of Failsworth School having previously been a Governor there. I have a particular interest in the teaching of numeracy and how to best smooth the transition for children from Primary to Secondary education. For my day job, I am a Policy and Communications officer in nearby Tameside. Outside of work and my Council duties, I play lead trumpet in a local swing band.
Sarah Horrocks
I have worked at Greenacres Primary School since March 2015 and prior to that I worked at Oldham Council in school's finance for over 8 years so I have a lot of experience in this area in particular.
Carole Mackie
Hello, my name is Carole Mackie. I've worked at Greenacres since 1999 as a Teaching Assistant. I currently work in Year 4 but have experience throughout each Key Stage. My hobbies are spending time with my family which includes my husband Gordon, my two daughters and my granddaughter.
Zerg Raja
I decided to take up the post of Parent Governor, because I know what a real difference parents can make to how a school is run and the experience of its pupils.
Having worked in social housing for nearly two decades, I am experienced in education, health and community development. In my spare time I volunteer with the RSPB and also deliver training on behalf of Good Relations Oldham (CIC).
I believe strongly in the link between standards of behaviour outside of the class room and the ability of pupils to learn when in lessons.
Julie Roebuck
I have been volunteering and listening to the KS1 pupils read at Geenacres for 4 years and have escorted the children on various School trips. In previous roles I have worked in retail and care. I have attended courses on fire safety, health and safety awareness as well as food hygiene and safety. I am organised and a good time keeper and listener.
Katie Thornton
I have been teaching for 13 years. I was a Year 6 teacher for 2 years and then became the Year 5/6 phase leader for another 2 years before becoming Assistant Head Teacher. I spent 8 years in this role before moving to Greenacres Primary School to become Deputy Head Teacher. I was also a Governor at my previous School for 4 years.
