At Greenacres Primary School we think it is important to come together to help raise awareness as well as much needed funding for a range of worthy causes. Within the past two years we have raised money for:
We Love Manchester Emergency Fund 03/07/2017 - £92.75
Our Year 6 class won this year's Business Challenge and helped to raise money for those directly affected by the the devastating attack in Manchester in the process.
Comic Relief 24/03/2017 - £240
Our Year 5 girls did a fantastic job of selling red noses to the children. We sold out twice and raised £240 for this fantastic charity which funds projects both in the UK and around the world.
Save the Children Christmas Jumper Day 16/12/2016 - £192
Everyone wore their Christmas jumpers to raise money for Save the Children - a charity which runs world-class programmes to save children’s lives and challenge world leaders to keep to their promises to give children a brighter future.
Children in Need 18/11/16 - £150.60
Our staff and pupils raised £150.60 by wearing either something spotty or their pyjamas! All of the money raised goes towards children in need around the UK.
Jeans for Genes Day 23/09/16 - £182
It is estimated that one in 25 children is affected by a genetic disorder so our staff and pupils raised money to help support them by wearing our jeans for the day and donating £1.
Sports Relief 18/03/2016 - £63.90
Each class ran a mile and we also had penalty shootout with our Head Teacher, Mr Leach, acting as goalkeeper! The money raised will make an incredible difference, with 50% used to transform lives right here in the UK, and the other 50% funding projects in the world’s poorest communities.
World Book Day 03/03/2016 - £166
The children and staff came to school dressed as their favourite character from a children's book. We had lots of different costumes from Gandalf from The Lord of the Rings to Where's Wally! The money raised goes to Book Aid International who work in partnership with libraries in Africa to provide books, resources and training to support an environment in which reading for pleasure, study and lifelong learning can flourish.
Text Santa 18/12/15 - £168.76
The children and staff wore their Christmas jumpers for the day to raise money for Macmillan Cancer Support, Make-A-Wish UK and Save the Children to give hope to families in difficulty in the UK and overseas.

Our School Council voted for a non-uniform day to raise money for Children in Need - this will go towards funding vital projects throughout the UK.
The Royal British Legion Poppy Appeal 11/11/15 - £167.57
Our Year 6 pupils took turns going around to every class selling poppies, stickers and stationery to raise money for the poppy appeal. The money raised went towards helping to improve the lives of our Service people, veterans and their families.
